Dog is a faithful animal and it can be used for various purposes therefore, people are always curious to know about the dog breeds. Different dog breeds are associated with different ancestral lines. Some dog breeds are natural while selective dog breeding is also carried out for getting the excellent dog breeds. For thousands of years the dogs have been selectively breeding. In the selective breeding the same ancestral lines can be bred and sometimes different ancestral lines are bred. In the same ancestral breeding, the same dog breeds mate to reproduce the offspring of the same line.
For enhancing the features of a specific breed, different combination of dog breeds are bred. Therefore, dog breeds originate because of the selective dog breeding. In the recent years, you can find huge variations in different dog breeds like the characteristics of Chihuahua are totally different from characteristics of Great Dane.
Different types of dog breeds can be generally categorized as registered dog breeds, rare dog breeds and new dog breeds which are under development. The dog breeds are generally categorized on the basis of their functions and there are seven types of dog breeds including Companion dogs, Guard dogs, Hunting dogs, Pastoral dogs, Sled dogs, Extinct dogs, Hypoallergenic breeds and Police dog breeds.
A companion dog is a pet and it is not used for work or specific tasks. These dogs are friendly by nature therefore, dog lovers keep them as a hobby or for fun.
The dogs which are aimed to provide safety against the unwanted people are known as guard dogs. The special feature of this dog breed is that they bark more as compare to the other dogs in order to make the owners alert and active. The professional guard dog breeds are capable of attacking the suspicious person. Third category of the dog breed is the hunting dog which helps the individuals in hunting. There are three categories of dog breed including hounds, terriers and gun dogs. For livestock the special dog breeds are there which include pastoral dog breed. Sled dogs are healthy and powerful dogs because they are used for pulling the wheel less vehicle on runners. The dog species which do not longer exist are known as extinct dog breeds. Hypoallergenic dog breeds are also known as crossbreeds that are specifically bred for the individuals who have allergic issues. The last category of dog breed is Police dog breed which is used by the police forces for detective purposes.
Therefore, we can say that dog breeds are really useful for us in various ways and to enhance the quality of the dog breeds, proper breeding and training are essential.
